An independent guide site about OpenAI's Sora video model and the AI image and video tools that were popular around its February 2024 launch: Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, Automatic1111, ControlNet, AnimateDiff, Fooocus, Proteus and PixVerse.
Is soraai.fun run by OpenAI?
No. This is an independent, unofficial project with no connection to OpenAI. “Sora” is OpenAI's name for its video model; we only use the word to describe and discuss it.
Is Sora still available?
No. OpenAI discontinued the Sora web and app experience on 26 April 2026, and the Sora API followed on 24 September 2026. The guides on this site describe Sora as it was at its February 2024 announcement.
Where can I watch the original Sora sample videos?
The homepage keeps four of the original launch clips, plus the OpenAI-published overview video and a set of reaction videos from other channels.
What is Stable Diffusion, and how is it different from Sora?
Stable Diffusion is an openly available image-generation model; through extensions such as AnimateDiff it can also produce short videos. It is a separate project from a separate team, built differently from Sora, but it was covered here because both were part of the same wave of AI media-generation news in early 2024.
What are ComfyUI, Automatic1111 and WebUI Forge?
They are three different interfaces people use to run Stable Diffusion on their own computer: ComfyUI is node-based, Automatic1111 and its faster fork WebUI Forge use a more traditional web form. The articles on this site walk through specific features of each, as they were in February 2024.
What do ControlNet and AnimateDiff do?
ControlNet lets a Stable Diffusion generation follow a reference pose, outline or depth map instead of pure chance. AnimateDiff adds motion on top of a Stable Diffusion model so it can produce a short animated clip instead of a single image.
Are the tutorials still accurate?
They describe tool versions from February 2024. Interfaces and features have moved on since, so treat the articles as a historical record and check each tool's own documentation for current steps.
Can I reuse the text, images or videos from this site?
The articles are kept as a historical record; the Sora sample videos and the quoted tweets belong to OpenAI and the people who posted them. Check the original source before reusing anything.
